'CORNER OF HEAVEN' LYRICS

I thought I saw a plum
on that tree

it was the tears of a flower
like petals on the windowsill

then I saw, like a painting
the corner of heaven

like a revelation
I felt clever

the sun reflection
on the silver thread
the light through the branches
the houses red

He looked away
I was watching
modern life
is nothing more than a fight

I knew there was a fire
in their hearts

and no one could see it
or justify it

inside it was colder
than outside

please make me warmer
make things right

the gold detector
in the driest desert
I turned it off
and I started breathing

He looked away
I was watching
modern life
is nothing more than a fight
I looked away
he was watching
modern life
is nothing more than a fight

I wish I could run away
(I've been trying)
I wish I could run away
(I've been trying)
I wish I could run away
I wish I could run away

BEHIND THE SONG

It's morning. I am sat in front of my window, just after breakfast. I need this hour every morning with all devices off, to find some space, look outside, look at the birds, the trees, the foxes, the magpies, people walking, feeling the fresh air coming from the crack in the windowpane. I felt inspired by the sunlight and I wrote this song on acoustic guitar. The studio version though feels doomed and troubled, as if someone performed it during a bad trip. Seeking peace of mind can be a haunted goal.
